1. Scope
These conditions cover the public resources Douglas Sutherland provides at mrsutherland.net and the public CHARLOTTE demo. Read them with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Security Policy.
2. Use, share and adapt
For original material Douglas Sutherland owns and has the right to license, you may access, download, print, copy, share, translate, adapt and repurpose it for any non-commercial purpose. Permission is worldwide and royalty-free and continues for lawfully obtained copies while you follow these conditions. Credit Douglas Sutherland / mrsutherland.net, include a link where practical, identify substantial adaptations and retain relevant copyright and licence notices. Do not imply endorsement of you, your organisation or an adaptation.
3. Non-commercial condition
Do not sell the material, charge for access to it or include it in a product offered for sale without separate permission. Normal classroom use by a salaried teacher does not itself count as selling a resource. Ask before another commercial or for-profit use.
4. Third-party material and software
Permission covers only rights the operator can grant. Quoted works, photographs, illustrations, articles, videos, trademarks, fonts and other third-party material may have different owners and conditions. Their stated licences and applicable copyright exceptions govern reuse. Software or a resource with its own licence remains governed by that licence; these terms do not replace or add restrictions to an existing open-source licence. Inclusion or linking does not grant ownership or unlimited reuse rights.
5. Your own work
You keep any rights you hold in work created with the tools. Creating or exporting a project does not give the operator permission to publish it. Work is not automatically submitted or published. Obtain permission to use any imported or recorded images, audio, text or other material, particularly material identifying other people. You choose how to share your exports.
6. Children and shared devices
Children can use learning resources without accounts. Teachers, parents and carers should choose suitable activities and provide appropriate guidance. Use a nickname or fictional details where a name is helpful; avoid student contact details, health information and confidential records. Local work may be visible to someone else using the same browser profile. Export needed work and follow the tool’s guidance before clearing the appropriate saves. Supervise camera and microphone use.
7. Acceptable use and demonstrations
Use the service lawfully and respectfully. Do not harass, discriminate, infringe rights, create unlawful content, introduce malware, attempt unauthorised access, evade protective controls or disrupt availability. Reasonable linking is welcome; automated access must not damage the service or interfere with others. Use fictional examples only in CHARLOTTE: it allows temporary edits, has no real-data imports or server saves, and starts fresh after reload. Do not enter confidential records or rely on it for live school administration.
8. Reports and proportionate action
Report privacy, security or copyright concerns to dsuth10@gmail.com. For copyright concerns, identify the page, the work, the rights affected and a contact address. Do not send student records. The operator may investigate, correct or remove material and restrict misuse proportionately. Technical support is not offered. Nothing here limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
