Practical Workflow

Save, Back Up, and Move Your Work

How to save the right file to keep editing tomorrow, export the right file to share with others, and move projects between school and home.

Moving Work to Another Computer

Because there are no user accounts syncing your projects over the cloud, moving an in-progress project between computers requires exporting an editable archive file. Here is the supported workflow:

Project Transfer Workflow

Key Rule: Notice that only the Editable Archive (such as .raynah.zip) can be imported into the tool on the new computer. A viewing copy (such as an MP4 film or PDF) cannot be opened for further editing.

How to Move an In-Progress Project (e.g. Raynah Motion)

Step 1: Export Your Project Archive

Before packing up your school laptop or moving to a different classroom computer:

  1. Open the application's menu bar (e.g. click Project in Raynah Motion).
  2. Select Export Project (.raynah.zip).
  3. Your browser will download a single .raynah.zip file containing all your timeline data, photos, and voiceover clips.

Step 2: Save It Where You Can Reach It

Your browser puts downloaded files into your computer's local Downloads folder. Move this file to:

Step 3: Resume Work on the New Computer

When you sit down at the new computer (or your home laptop):

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to the application page.
  2. Click Project → Import Project.
  3. Select your .raynah.zip file.
  4. The application will restore your entire project, including all frames, audio tracks, and timeline timings exactly as you left them!

⚠️ Warning: Importing Replaces Active Work

When you import a project file, it replaces whatever work is currently in that browser's memory. If you already have work open that you want to keep, export it first before importing a new file.

Suggested School Folder Organization

To avoid losing files or submitting the wrong format, we recommend creating a simple folder structure on your student drive or USB stick:

Teaching Resources/
Raynah Projects/ ← Keep your editable .raynah.zip archives here
Finished Films/ ← Keep exported .mp4 / .webm movies for watching
Reading Responses/ ← Keep downloaded .json and .html summaries
Worksheets & Plans/ ← Keep downloaded .docx and .pdf lesson materials
